Back East

I’ll be wrapping up the tour this Friday (10/21) with a show in Manhattan at a great theater in midtown called the Tank. It’s been a great thrill playing all over the country, and if you live in or near New York, I’d love to have you join me on Friday to cap it all off! If you think you can make it, the Tank is on the eighth floor of 151 W. 46th St, and the show starts at 9:30.

After that, I’ll be heading up to Boston, back in the land of reasonably-sized states. Keep watching this space for more performance announcements and other news. I’ll be touring the east coast with Saint Anyway again in a couple of weeks (and I’ve just started recording backing parts for their new record, which will be done this winter and already sounds fantastic), and am hoping to line things up in New England for the weeks after that. Thanks again for all your support on this last tour — whether you came out to a show, bought a T-shirt, put me up, fed me, or anything, I really appreciate it and couldn’t have done this without you. Hope to try it again soon!

Halftime

Thanks to everybody who came out to all the shows on my westward tour through New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Washington! I had a ton of fun stumbling across the continent meeting and playing for you all. I’m lining up dates now for an equal and opposite eastbound tour, which already has shows set up in LA, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, and Fort Collins. Keep watching as this list expands to include visits to places in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic too. And if you want me to swing by your town on the way, please let me know and I’ll try to make it happen.

Right now I’m at intermission though, back in New England for a week, which by total luck has turned out to be precisely the week when summer turns into fall. The rest of the country is great, but man, New Hampshire and Vermont just have some things going for them that no other place does.

Arrangements

New dates are slowly being added to the performances page: So far, I’ll be playing shows in Connecticut, New York, Chicago, Wisconsin, Regina, and a whole bunch in Minnesota later this month, and more will hopefully follow soon, in Winnipeg and Seattle. I also got the chance to play a few sets in Fairbanks, Alaska last week while I was up there to talk to some musicians and a soundscape scientist at Denali for an article I’m writing.

I’ve also been writing arrangements and orchestrations for the Saint Anyway guys as they record material for their next album. This has turned out to be amazingly fun work. Here’s a demo of one of guitarist Jamie Kallestad’s new songs, to which I added some euphonium, violin, keys, upright bass, and a pile of other things.
